But as the organization grows the IT infrastructure too grows in size. Medium to large scale enterprises have data centers of their own or outsource the data center (DC) operations to service providers who specialize in DC operations. In this article, let us have a peek into a typical data center and look at what components are deployed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The type of equipments, design, redundancy and service levels are some factors which determine the category of a data center. Data centers are classified into Tier 1, 2, 3 and 4. Tier 1 being the basic category and tier 4 being the best in category.  I am reserving the methodology used for tier classification for a later article.
